I’m not talking about real life, someone (or something) is going to hurt you. No, I mean scared when you are watching TV. All alone at night. Well the rest of the family is sleeping in their rooms. But the show makes you wonder who’s outside your window. Do you turn on the lights in the house, or turn them off so you can see out?
I remember those days when I was a kid. I loved scary movies. I loved that feeling. Even though I knew it was just a movie I let myself be drawn in. I let myself be scared.
I didn’t read a lot, but one of my favorite authors would have been Rod Serling because he wrote most of the stories on his show. No, not Twilight Zone though I loved it too, my favorite was a show called Night Gallery.

With my writing I hope to give readers the feeling I used to get when I would watch those old movies and shows.

My wife and I own and run a magic shop. One method in magic is known as ‘the one ahead method’. This is where the magician is always one step ahead of the audience by knowing something they don’t know that the magician knows. I try to apply that to my writing too by planning ahead while working on the task at hand. Though I know the next step is a long way off because I have to get my book published first, I am researching marketing.

Hi all! Welcome to this stop of Kelly’s Blog tour. Kelly is
amazing, and after learning that she grew up reading R.L. Stein’s Fear Street
novels I wondered if they helped her to channel her own darkness within to
bring us such great stories. Wherever Kelly’s ideas spring from, she knows how
to relay them to the rest of us.
The Darkness Within:
It’s one thing to start a new life and fit in at a new
school, but starting a new life fresh from the grave has its own array of problems.
Especially if your new life is that of a witch.
Kelly Hashway not only gave life to Samantha Thompson, but
gave her a second life when she climbed from her grave in The Monster Within. In
The Darkness Within, Kelly takes us through another tale of surprises, twists,
and turns as only Kelly can take us.
For Sam and Ethan, starting a new job, a new school, and a
new life is keeping them busy. Then there are witches to deal with. How do you
know who you can trust? There is never a dull moment as Sam must find a way to
keep the darkness within Ethan from completely consuming him.
Synopsis:
After dying of cancer at seventeen and being
brought back to life by an evil witch who turned her into a monster, Samantha
Thompson thinks she's finally gotten past all the tragedy in her life. Now
she's part of a coven of good witches who are helping her and her boyfriend,
Ethan Anderson, learn to use the powers they received from other witches. Aside
from the fact that Sam and Ethan are still in hiding from their old lives--the
ones they had before Sam was brought back to life--things couldn't be better.
Sam and Ethan are inseparable. What could go wrong?
Magic.
Ethan's magic came from a witch who'd turned as
evil as possible, and though his coven thought he'd be fine, the more he uses
his magic, the stranger he starts acting. The magic inside him is changing who
he is. One minute he's Sam's sweet, perfect Ethan and the next, he's a complete
stranger. Even with all her witchy power, Sam is helpless against the magic
corrupting Ethan. Can Sam find out what's wrong with him before she loses him
to dark magic forever?
Kelly Hashway grew up reading R.L. Stein’s Fear
Street novels and writing stories of her own, so it was no surprise to her
family when she majored in English and later obtained a masters degree in
English Secondary Education from East Stroudsburg University. After teaching
middle school language arts for seven years, Hashway went back to school and
focused specifically on writing. She is now the author of three young adult
series, one middle grade series, and several picture books. She also writes
contemporary romance under the pen name Ashelyn Drake. When she isn’t writing,
Hashway works as an editor for Leap Books as well as for her own list of
clients. In her spare time, she enjoys running, traveling, and volunteering
with the PTO. Hashway currently resides in Pennsylvania with her husband,
daughter, and two pets. Hashway is represented by Sarah Negovetich of
Corvisiero Literary Agency.
